The "Me, Myself and I" projectis designed to support children aged 3 to 11 in gaining a deep understanding of themselves, promoting their holistic development. This initiative focuses on creating a generation that is more self-aware, capable of self-regulation, and able to interact healthily with those around them. Through an approach based on Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) and the LIFEComp competency framework, we aim to fill an important gap in early childhood education by exploring the functioning of the human mind and its connection to the body, areas that are rarely addressed in the education of young children.

The key activities to implement include:

  1. Design of Socio Emotional learning Guidelines: we will create a guide on the key aspects of Social and Emotional Learning (SEL), integrating knowledge from psychology and neuroscience for preschool and primary education.
  2. Age adapted learning resources: we will develop a set of educational materials tailored to each age group, allowing children to explore the relationship between the body and the mind.
  3. Piloting and validation: the materials will be tested in real educational settings. Based on feedback from teachers and educators, we will adjust and finalize the materials, as well as consolidate the necessary knowledge in the guidance manual.
  4. Accessibility of the materials: both the guide and the educational materials will be available for free download.

Expected results:

  • Tangible results:
    • SEL guide aimed at preschool and primary school teachers, to implement the knowledge of the body-mind relationship in different age groups and educational contexts
    • Development and testing of 12 educational materials, with the participation of 15 teachers in the pilot phase.
  • Intangible results:
    • Increasing awareness among teachers and students about the mental processes that influence our behavior, health, and relationships.
    • Improving understanding of how the mind works, creating healthier, happier, and more resilient individuals.
