Across Europe, educators increasingly face the challenge of supporting children affected by social, emotional, and educational disruptions. While self-regulation is widely recognised as a key competence for children's development and learning success, many professionals have limited opportunities to develop practical skills in co-regulationthe responsive adult support that enables children to build self-regulation capacities. At the same time, there is growing interest in Active Playful Learning, APL approaches that connect emotional development, physical activity, and inclusive teaching practices.

CORE-ED addresses these challenges by bringing together universities, teacher training institutions, early childhood education providers, and educational experts from across Europe to develop innovative training pathways and resources for educators.

Our Objectives

• Strengthen educators' competences in social-emotional learning, developmental psychology, and co-regulation.
• Promote Active Playful Learning methodologies that foster participation, inclusion, and wellbeing.
• Develop a transnational Train-the-Trainer model that enables sustainable capacity building across partner countries.
• Support the integration of co-regulation approaches into teacher education, vocational education, and continuing professional development programmes.
• Generate evidence of impact through a robust monitoring, evaluation, and quality assurance framework.

What We Will Deliver

• Two blended learning training modules:
  • Social-Emotional Learning, Developmental Psychology and Co-Regulation.
  • Active Playful Learning for Inclusive Education.
• A Trainer Handbook with implementation guidelines and practical resources.
• A European Train-the-Trainer programme leading to a pool of certified trainers.
• National training courses and pilot implementations reaching educators across Europe.
• Open Educational Resources (OERs) freely accessible online.
• A transnational evaluation report and policy recommendations to support future educational practice and policymaking.

Expected Impact

CORE-ED seeks to train between 200 and 290 educators and teachersestablish 5 to 7 institutional integration processes, and demonstrate measurable improvements in professional competences related to co-regulation and inclusive education. Ultimately, the project aims to contribute to educational environments where children aged 3 to 10 can thrive, participate actively, and develop the self-regulation skills needed for lifelong learning.
