In November 2024, the DISCO SMS project, an ambitious 24-month Erasmus+ initiative, embarked on a journey to revolutionize education and training. The project aims to bridge the gap in soft skills recognition by integrating Open Badge technology with innovative methodologies. By focusing on gamification, DISCO SMS seeks to create a dynamic and engaging learning environment for trainers and VET teachers. This approach not only makes the recognition of soft skills visible and transferable but also supports learners in diverse social and professional settings, ensuring they are well-equipped for the future.
The implementation phase of DISCO SMS is marked by several key activities designed to maximize its impact. Central to this is the enhancement of the DIScoPLAYER badge issuing portal, which will now feature Stackable Digital Badges with standardized multilingual metadata. This development allows students to build digital repositories showcasing their achievements, which can be endorsed by peers and educators alike. Additionally, the project includes a comprehensive training program for trainers, combining these digital tools with strategies to motivate students and reduce dropout rates. This blend of technology and methodology provides tangible proof of students' skills, fostering a more inclusive and supportive educational environment.
As the project progresses, DISCO SMS anticipates significant outcomes that will benefit both educators and learners. One of the primary results will be a 30-hour online course, accompanied by a downloadable guidebook for trainers and teachers. This resource will cover three essential modules: gamification, soft skills recognition, and interoperability and stackability. Available in multiple languages, including English, Hungarian, Latvian, Spanish, Greek, and Lithuanian, the materials are designed for self-learning and adaptability across various educational sectors. Supported by an operational OB 2.1 compatible Displayer portal, these resources will enhance the stackability functions and services, ensuring that the project's impact is both broad and lasting.
